Today I Learned About Ancient Egypt

The Nile River flows from the south to the north into the Mediterranean Sea.  This area is called a delta.  Ancient Egyptians built their houses by the river and the water would flood the shores and help their farms.

They used bright paints for their artwork.  Especially the colours blue, black, red and green.  They made the paint by grinding up rocks they found in the ground.

Ancient Egyptian Language

Ancient Egyptians used pictures to write their language.  The pictures are called hieroglyphics.

The Great Pyramid of Giza (it's also called the Pyramid of Khufu) is the tallest pyramid in Egypt.  It was built for King Khufu.  It is the largest of the three pyramids at Giza.  The pyramid is one of the seven Wonders of the Ancient World and the only one still standing.

When Cleopatra died the Romans took over Egypt and it became part of their empire.  Egypt's empire ended after 3000 years.  In 1882 Britain took over Egypt until 1953, then Egypt became independent.

I would have liked living in Ancient Egypt because I think the pyramids are cool and it would be fun to write with pictures.
