Today I Learned About Dogs

 

Dogs wag their tails when they recognize someone who has treated them kindly.  Wild dogs wag their tails to greet the leader of the pack.

There are many different kinds of breeds of dogs.  A dog whose mother and father are different breeds is called a mixed breed or mongrel.

Dogs have very good sense of smell.  Their sensitive noses can small scents that are too faint for people to notice.

Most dogs can swim or at least stay afloat.  Some dogs such as retrievers have webbed feet and are good swimmers.

Circus dogs can jump through hoops, ride on horses and even dance on their back legs.

Working dogs take their jobs seriously.  Some dogs are seeing-eye dogs for the blind.  Some are guard dogs and some herd sheep and cattle.

My dog Murphy is a mixed breed.  He is half schnauzer and half pug.
